Tues., June 10 , 1:30 p.m. Lecture and Tea: “Let's Talk About the Weather:” How Popular Music Talks (But Mainly Sings) about the Weather.
Back by popular demand, Michael Lasser, music historian and author will lecture. How can you sing about love without moonlight, clouds and rain, and bright sunny skies? This talk explores how songwriters use familiar imagery, immediately understandable references, to tell us something about love. And no body of imagery is more familiar, more common, or more effective than the weather. This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Phenomenal Weather. The lecture is followed by a tea reception and tour of the exhibition.
